"Big Gear Jack" Award

Jacques

In memory of the founder/organizer's father Jacques who has been her inspiration. One of Jacques' cycling buddies suggested this award. The award title is derived from Jacques' nickname "Big Gear Jack" who thought that the low gears weren't meant to be used, even going uphill. At the age of 82, he was still able to complete the 100 km route.

This award goes to the oldest person to complete the 100 or 160 km route.

In 2017, the award went to Alan Barclay,
age 85 of Hamilton.

 

 

 

"Tuff Butt" Award

Tuff ButtDo you have what it takes to ride 160 km all in one day? Everyone who completes the 160 km route will be awarded a Tuff Butt certificate attesting to the fact that you have what it takes to get the job done.
